REACH Update

Seven substances of very high concern (SVHCs) will soon be added in to the candidate list. The seven new substances identified as SVHCs are 2-ethoxyethylacetate, Strontium chromate, 1,2-Benzenedicarboxylic acid, di-C7-11, Branched and linear alkyl esters (DHNUP), Hydrazine, 1-methyl 2-pyrrolidone, 1-2-3 Trichloropropane, 1,2 Benzene dicarboxylic acid, di-C6-8-branched alkyl esters, C7-rich (DIHP). These substances are identified as either carcinogenic, mutagenic, or reprotoxic substances (CMR).
(Update on 31 May 2011)

The European Chemical Agency (ECHA) has published the Substances of Very High Concern (SVHC) candidate list for authorization. Identification of substances as SVHC candidates is the first process in inclusion of those in to SVHC list. Companies will have immediate obligation towards these substances as per the REACH regulation. These obligations will extend to the listed substances, their mixtures and the articles with their presence. The candidate list as on 15 December 2010 is given below.
